My pens don't want to work, what do I do?Updated a year ago

If your Ocean Clickers or Squishy Pens aren't working, there are a few methods you can try to fix them before considering them completely unusable. Here are two common techniques that involve using hot water and warming it up with your hand:

Hot water method:

Step 1: Boil water - Heat up some water to a temperature that is safe to touch but not boiling hot. You can use a kettle or microwave for this.

Step 2: Remove the ink cartridge - If the pen allows you to remove the ink cartridge or refill, carefully take it out of the pen. Be cautious not to spill any ink, as it can be messy.

Step 3: Soak the tip in hot water - Submerge the tip of the ink cartridge or the nib (the writing point) of the pen into the hot water for about 10-15 seconds. This can help dissolve any dried-up ink that might be clogging the pen's tip.

Step 4: Dry and test - Take the pen out of the hot water and gently dry it with a clean cloth. Try writing on a piece of paper to see if the pen works again. If it's still not writing correctly, move on to the next method.

Warming up with your hand:

Step 1: Hold the pen between your hands - Rub the pen between your hands for a couple of minutes. The heat from your hands can sometimes help liquefy the ink and get it flowing again.

Step 2: Test the pen - After warming it up, try writing on a piece of paper to see if the pen starts working properly. If it's still not functioning, there may be other issues beyond just dried-up ink.

Additional tips:

a. Check the pen for visible blockages - Before attempting any of the above methods, examine the pen's tip or nib for any visible blockages or dried ink. If you see any, gently try to remove it using a soft cloth or tissue.

b. Replace the ink cartridge - If the pen uses replaceable ink cartridges, try inserting a new one to see if the issue is with the old cartridge.

c. Clean the pen regularly - To avoid similar problems in the future, make it a habit to clean your pen regularly. This helps prevent the ink from drying up and clogging the pen's tip.

If you've tried all the above methods and none of them helped, it's possible that the pen may be damaged beyond repair or has a more serious issue. In that case, please contact our Customer Happiness Team and we'll make sure you have a working set of pens in no time!
